Stan Lee ya did it again. Upon watching the first episode of ABC’s, The Gifted, my reaction is, “YES!” I love Marvel’s X-Men and this is the perfect show. I love watching mutant TV shows. Although, what really drew me to this show was the actor — Blair Redford. Ugh.. fell in love with this dreamy man when he was on the Freeform show, Switched at Birth. So when I saw that this guy was now on The Gifted, I was heavily anticipating the first show.
Since we don’t have an antennae right now, we have been watching all our shows on Hulu. And what I like about Hulu is that you can watch it whenever you have free time.
Anyways, the first episode was everything I had hoped for. Of course, we are introduced to new characters such as Polaris (Emma Dumont), Thunderbird (Blair Redford), Blink (Jamie Chung), and Eclipse (Sean Teale) who are our mutants.
Basically, we got two kids who manage to find out they have mutant powers in the day and age of the never-ending battle of mutants vs. boring humans. I personally think humans without abilities has a personal vendetta because they aren’t cool enough. Come on you guys, imagine having a friend who’s a mutant. That’s like totally A-W-E-S-O-M-E!
Anyways, back to the plot, a brother (Percy Hynes-White) and sister (Natalie Alyn Lind) find they both have mutant capabilities. Mother (Amy Acker) and father (Stephen Moyer)are practically average, except the father prosecutes mutants who supposedly are dangerous, which may not benefit the kids. But of course, mother and kids entrust the information to their father. Which, now the father who didn’t have much sympathy with mutants has been forced into this dilemma to empathize with mutants now because now his own children are mutants. Cue the drama — DUN-DUN-DUN. Now, they’re on the run as a family and have to enlist the help of the other mutants.
Now, these mutants of course are reluctant to lend their support but one of their fellow mutants, Polaris, has been caught and her lover Eclipse is on the mission to rescue her. And one man knows where she is, the father. Now two groups must unite to save their families and friends and to run to a safe haven across the border. Will they make it? Who knows.
The first episode left us with a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to watch the second episode.
